Jan Michael Gaynor was born in 1948 in Queens, New York City, New York.

My parents separated when I was 5 and I was shipped around within the family, growing up. I wasn't a bad kid. It just happened for one reason or another. I can't say I had a good or bad childhood; it was very unstable but it was what I knew. In the beginning, I thought my life was normal and everyone lived like me.

I am very compassionate and caring; we are all one race, the human race. We each had or have challenges in our "life story"; it is how each chapter ends that is important. Everyone is my friend unless they prove otherwise no matter their race and or religion! I hold no prejudices. It is my belief that prejudice and greed are the cause of many of the world's problems.

I lived very comfortably, not wealthy, but I was happy. I had a nice house, cars, business, retirement savings; you know the story. I am a USMC combat Vietnam Veteran. I took a flu shot at a VA hospital; as a result, I became temporarily paralyzed within five days. I was unable to work and received no help. I lost nearly everything, including my business and the ability to complete my PhD. You have a choice of getting angry, feeling sorry for yourself or as I did fight back. I did have a period of being angry, depressed and suicidal. I want to share my fight and what I learned from the best coaches and speakers in the world. Saving you time and money, I present the best of the best and what worked for me and can also help you.

I earned two Masters Degrees, which allowed me to teach on the university level and I learn something new every day. I have experience teaching many ages -- young and old. I worked with several youth organizations as my children grew up.

My family is very important to me. I have 5 successful children, 10 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Becoming an author allows me to share my knowledge with the world. Not sharing these options that I experienced on my road to recovery would be selfish of me.
