All parade entries will be judged on how well their entry portrays this year's theme - winners announced on the website! Check back later to see which entries take home the prizes and earn bragging rights.

Mayor Kevin McDonnell will read a proclamation honoring the Grand Marshal and Good Egg. Come enjoy this display that shows the heart of our community.
One week later on Saturday, April 19, the Butter & Egg Days Parade steps off at noon and marches through the historic downtown. ~ Good Egg ~
George Baur
This year’s Good Egg is George Baur!
George Baur, a native-born Petaluman, is an author of two books about Petaluma's history who continues to preserve and promote Petaluma for our generation and those to come. Baur’s latest project involving preserving old memories was completed in 2024, when he lowered a time capsule into a concrete vault at Liberty Cemetery. The custom-built 250-pound stainless steel time capsule was filled with a wide range of historical publications, historical memorabilia and nostalgic artifacts.
The Good Egg Award was created by the Butter & Egg Days Committee 43 years ago to honor the people who work to keep Petaluma’s history alive. The annual awardee is selected by previous Good Eggs to recognize the legacy of positive promotion begun by booster Bert Kerrigan. Kerrigan worked from 1918 to 1926 and gained international recognition of Petaluma as a center of commerce and agriculture. Kerrigan’s promotion of Petaluma included the famous National Egg Days celebrations, which inspired the creation of the Butter and Egg Days Parade. Kerrigan brought Petaluma fame with the phrase “The World’s Egg Basket.”
The 2025 Butter & Egg Days Opening Ceremonies will take place on Saturday, April 12 at the Petaluma Historical Library and Museum at 12 noon. Mayor Kevin McDonnell and other dignitaries will be present to read proclamations honoring the 2025 Good Egg, the parade’s Grand Marshal, announce the opening of History Week, and kickoff the 2025 Butter & Egg Days.

~ Grand Marshal ~
Petaluma Garden Club
This year’s Butter & Egg Days Parade Grand Marshal will be the Petaluma Garden Club!
Over the last 101 years, the Petaluma Garden Club has accomplished many impressive things including growing to over 150 members and countless philanthropic contributions. Last year, in celebration of its first full century, the club received proclamations from the city of Petaluma, the Sonoma County Board of Supervisors and the United States Congress in recognition of its outstanding contributions to the community and dedication to preserving natural beauty. The club was officially started in 1924 by local gardener and night school teacher Ray Herman. Ever since, flower shows, tree planting, ecumenical teas, park maintenance, horticultural education and college scholarships have been core club activities.
The Grand Marshal of the annual Petaluma Butter & Egg Days Parade is selected from a local nonprofit group that coincides with the theme of the event. This year's theme, "Petaluma's Wonderland: Where Imagination Blooms," celebrates the magic and charm of Petaluma. The Petaluma Garden Club will showcase beautiful flower displays to bring the theme to life with their Grand Marshal float at the parade.
